Any motor factors, its about 4 quid for big can, don't bother with the muck off stuff its a poor imitation and about twice the price for a smaller can.

Works a treat for cleaning, light lubing or freeing of mechanisms. Just don't clean your rims with it or you'll never come to a stop. Any DIY place stocks it.

There's no lube in it at all, its generally used for cleaning brake dust from all car brake parts including discs and pads and also the shipping grease from new brake discs. It will break down and remove any lube and leave a dry clean surface ready for a new lube of your choice. So you can clean rims with it. Don't know what you've been using but if it lubes its not brake cleaner.

I stand corrected on the lubing bit then. Use it to generally clean things or to stop rear mech jockey wheels from squeaking on the way home. Once fully cleaned, parts that require oiling or greasing are done so. For rims/brakes I use detergents or degreasers or occasionally surgical spirit.

Got myself a can through amazon, sounds like a workshop essential - where has it been all my life?! Will remember to abstain from hard liquor before embarking on the nitty gritty work of disassembly/reassembly. Sage advice!

the added advantage of the car spray is the pressure in the car is also higher so it also blasts the gunk away after it has melted it down.

Thanks for this Carl I'm now a little confused as I thought we were all talking about electrical contact cleaner? This is brake cleaner. Is this the same stuff???

Never used electrical contact cleaner, there could be some sort of residue/lube left by it though to keep contacts protected from oxidisation though so not sure it would be the best thing to use here.
