Locking up at the library today I noticed a fellow unlocking his well worn Raleigh Carlton (Grand something, couldn't make it out clearly. Goldish colour) and commented on it. He says it had been with him since he was 19 and he is in his mid-60's now. Travelled all over the place with it...
I just put this book on hold at the library. Sounds interesting -
The Kindness of Strangers; Coast to Coast to Coast in 60 Days follows one man's battle with Parkinson's, and the unbelievable journey he took on his bike to fight it.
From the rocky outcrops of the Maritimes to the frozen...
Hard to know about all of Canada or whether tall riders cease to search for bikes to buy in the winter months. Being a winter country, there is certainly some taper off in bike sales when the snow comes. But, marketplaces like Craigslist in any of the major Canadian cities always have...
Someone once suggested the analogy between steel and aluminum (or, Al-You-Min-Ium as the Brits say) frames is like the difference in feel between batting with an Ash tree bat or an aluminum bat in baseball. I always seek out steel frames. An aluminum frame might ride nicely if it was designed...
Ok, thanks fellas. I was considering buying a set of the Sp19's from Spacycles. The exchange rate + postage takes the fun out of the sale but still not bad for a decent quality rim.
Indeed they could. I buy almost all my clothes used. Boots and shoes are much harder to find on the used market but I have been relatively successful that way but could be more successful still. Don't get me wrong, I may be poor but not cheap. I was going to buy a Surly Straggler for 8 bills...
I dunno bout that. Around here, tall bikes almost always get snapped up fast. For example, just a few hours ago this one went up for c$65:

He already has a buyer for it. Within 3 hours.
I'm considering buying a few of the EXAL Sp19 rims for rear wheel use and would like to ask those with experience with them (or EXAL generall) to provide some feedback as to their quality.
BTW, what is the seatpost diameter on that bike? If you could take and upload a snap of the tubing decal down near the bottom bracket to your thread, that'd be super.
I'm not a collector, just a rider. The Omega 1.1. looks ok, but they sure don't hold their value it seems.

Ok, thank you... that info would be helpful. I think I have a 1990 basing it off the stamping on the fork steerer tube. Attached are photos of the actual frame. *BUT, I recall now it is not an Apex but Ascent. It doesn't have the sloping top tube so I can't tell you if it is the EX model or not...
