    Bagged a Nishiki Cresta GT

Ah ok... As you might have gathered, there is a bike of interest in (near Barrie) in McCleod. Yes, unlike Europe, nothing is really "closeby" in Canada. Closeby is a relative term. Mars is closeby Earth, relative to Pluto. The bike is one of the ones I tried to buy new but couldn't find in my...

    The Health and Nutrition Thread

Currently, I'm investigating supplementing with Iodine/ iodide. Apparently most of the population is deficient in that element. Iodine plays a crucial role in every cell of the body.

    The Health and Nutrition Thread

I think it important to take command of one's own health. This most often requires efforts outside of established allopathic medical systems. I think a thread dedicated to those who want to discuss their own self-directed health care might be worthwhile. Shared experiences which have proven...

    Bagged a Nishiki Cresta GT

Yes indeed - Winnipeg! That word can send the hairs on the back of one's neck up. If a set of 700c wheels can be located locally for cheap, I'll probably convert the bike over. 35mm tires are already "in stock" and they should probably fit - but a pre-fit test would be prudent. 27's would be...

    Bagged a Nishiki Cresta GT

Hello, the bike measures 25" ST / 23" TT and 5/8" between the inside of the fork blade and rim (didn't measure chainstay clearance). There was a fellow who had refurbed this exact bike and he had a difficult time finding a brake caliper which would fit after he'd converted wheelsize. His ordeal...

    Bagged a Nishiki Cresta GT

Last November I saw this bike advertised and decided to buy. It is in very good condition and is orignial. I was thinking of putting Michelin Protek tires on it. The wheels are 27". I'd thought about replacing the 27'ers with 700c but I don't want to put any significant money into this bike if...

    Raising the Bar... WAY up

On any bike I cobble together I always have the handlebars higher than the saddle. It looks like a comfort bike geometry is neccessary, but those are mostly aluminum framed and look kind of "special needs" in appearance.

    Raising the Bar... WAY up

Indeed... usually I'll try and find the biggest bike I can (which is not easy to do), largely out of neccessity (I'm 1.94m). Oversized bikes are quite rare around here.

    Retrobike resolutions 2025?

My objective is to get rid of everything extraneous in parts. A difficult choice because you never know when you're going to need a part or a wheel. Certain parts and frames are so damn hard to find.

    Raising the Bar... WAY up

Thank you very much for the input on the dilemma. I would have responded sooner but waited to receive a wide array of opinions. A recumbent wouldn't be possible around here. I've never ridden one, but they look fun. I imagine that closer to the ground it might appear that you're travelling...

    Raising the Bar... WAY up

I have developed trouble with my hands after riding a bike for so many years, mainly the right one. Handlebar palsy they call it. Surgery is scheduled to help correct the problem and thanks to Canada's vaunted and worldy acclaimed health care system, this surgery should take place 13 months from...

    Tire Choices - Michelin Protek

Hi, thank you for the feedback and opinion your Michelin Cross tires. Glad to hear they are working out. They tick a lot of boxes in a positive way. I usually ride the Schwalbe Marathon but am open to trying others. The Marathon is made in a 27" too.
