Just built this for off road commuting, to pannier and collect and drop off fresh washing to work. Comprehensive rebuild, making use of a neglected 1992 Ascent. Will extend commute home via various local woods and trails on my "rest day".

I am after a set of wide cable carriers to run mudguards on my mtb as I want to fit guards with cantis. Can anybody assist…where to source, alternatives etc. Thanks

Hamster, not sure what I am looking for in terms of old hubs. The model fitted doesn’t accept an 11 sprocket. What alternatives do I have and what should I be looking for ?

I have a worn 7 speed freehub, which has play. Is there a modern 7 speed alternative I can use to replace the Freehub and avoid rebuilding, as well as allowing a late 11-28 hyper glide 7 speed cassette to be fitted? Hubs are Exage, circa 1990/1. Cassette also pictured, whereby smallest sprocket...

I have a missing shifter cover on a 7 speed Shimano exage equipped diamondback ascent. Not familiar with mtb or shimano. I have included pics of the missing item and the left hand cover which is present. Any tips where to locate, model or if you have a spare, much appreciated. Bike is circa 1992.

I have a Potenza PT with a self extraction system on nds arm…a doddle to remove. I also run an Athena 11 Carbon chainset, with no such extractor. Question, can I remove the extractor from the Potenza and fit to my Athena, so as not to damage the carbon nds arm upon removal.

That is super close, hence damage to stay from removal. In terms of chain line, is it pot luck? Has an 11 into a cold set 120 to 130 been successful achieved hassle free?

“the last cog will interact with the frame”… as in figment and removal of wheel, or in use?

Has anybody any experience of cold setting a frame to accept modern hub and its associated effect on chain line? Do I presume it depends on the frame, so pretty much hit and miss? Have had an early 80s frame cold set to 130, from 120, by a highly experienced London frame builder. Alignment...

Anybody shed any light on these? Not a builder I am familiar with?
