    Workshop/Workspace... Show us yours!

No, I never did it as a trade - If I had, I probably wouldn't be satisfied with the old machines I have. Just an interest, and the paraphernalia to go with it, collected over almost 40 years - I could only wish I had the skills to go along with it 🤔 That's a little Vernon horizontal, 1950 - I...

    Workshop/Workspace... Show us yours!

OK, I just saw this thread, and I thought some might find my workspace(s) interesting. I live in NW Florida, and so have the luxury of being able to work outside much of the year - I also live in a stilt house, like those found at the beach, but our house is back in the woods, many miles from...

    Stumpjumper - What year ?

Thanks for that link - A clear difference between '93 and '94, and mine is pretty def. a '93, even the old saddle is a match :)

    Stumpjumper - What year ?

I like that idea, but I looked and haven't found one in the US (where I live) yet. The only one I saw was an old listing, and it was more money than the current price on new elastomers

    Stumpjumper - What year ?

Thank you! Of course, once you gave me the clue, I found loads of '93 photos, in that color - It was the fork that confused. Did the "93 have a threaded 1 1/8" steerer? I think I'd like to keep the fork, as I do ride these bikes, and the lumpy, rooty single track here is easier on my old body...

    Stumpjumper - What year ?

So, I've arranged to buy this Stumpy (pretty cheap), but I haven't seen it in person, yet. The seller does not know, so, any guesses as to the year and subspecies? I can't see the mechs clearly, but it has an LX crankset with black arms, cantilever brakes, and that Manitou Three fork. Hard to...

Selling up and leaving the hobby - Your failure experiences?

That was a big deal, back when I was a pup - Local hobby shop had a HUGE (to me, anyway) track set up :)

    Bikes and Bridges

That's just lovely! I envy some of the beautiful places you guys get to ride, over there. I live in the US, and in Florida no less, probably the worst of the worst when it comes to any sense of history. Anything like that, in public domain, would have been demolished and 4-laned, so people could...

Something not seen every day - Parkpre Al-U-Max

I can't get a good look at the hanger, yet - Soon, though. It's held to the dropout with 3 philips-head screws, arranged around the axle, if that tells you anything. Oh, and the dropouts are just cut from 7mm plate :)

Something not seen every day - Parkpre Al-U-Max

It would be tough love - I've had a couple grip shift bikes, and decided I prefer some kind of trigger or thumb shifter. Granted, maybe it's just that the grip shifts I've used were old and not in good shape, but I learned not to like them. Because of where I live, I don't get to ride often, so...

Something not seen every day - Parkpre Al-U-Max

In the interest of full disclosure - The crankset is indeed STX-RC The serial # is - F501A0350 What does the number indicate? PS - there's another number on the bottom bracket, but it's under the cable guide, and I can't read it all.
