    100GS mech hanger puzzle.

Brilliant! Cheers for that. Saved me a lot of headscratching!

    100GS mech hanger puzzle.

I have an old Raleigh Alaska frame which I've done a singlespeed conversion on. I could do with running a tensioner on it (got a Superstar one) but the frame has no mech hanger mount as it's integrated into the 100GS mech. I've managed to separate the hanger from the mech but it has a pressed...

    show me your slick/road tyres

Conti Sport Contacts in the 1.6 flavour and pumped up to 5 bar. Steel beads were a bit of a struggle to get on the rim, they ride pretty harsh but they're damn fast and light. I slipstreamed a Mondeo at 40.4 mph the other day. The poor fella's expression in his rear view mirror was priceless...

    Cycling wardrobe.

The Endura reference was just that - a reference :) I have some Endura Thermolite socks which did sterling service throughout the winter, mainly for running in -10C of snow! One thing I picked up recently was a hi-viz lightweight waterproof jacket from the bargain bin in Aldi, again marketed...

    Cycling wardrobe.

Funnily enough, the best item of non-cycling specific cycling kit I've bought recently is a Nike Storm-Fit convertible jacket. It's brilliant and cost £36 from Chavs-R-Us, or Sports Direct as it's more commonly known  . The thing with running kit, especially jackets, is in my experience...

    Cycling wardrobe.

Erm... no, not a wardrobe with mad skillz but rather: What 'must-have' items of cycling clothing do you possess? I'm asking because I'm frankly bewildered at the choices available, so have basically invested in not a lot. Most of my cycling kit is my running/outdoor kit - base layers...

    Confused.com about fork length.

The bike is a Carrera Kraken which I'm mainly using to commute on (hence the reason for ditching the Suntours). I'm a muppet and measured wrong  500mm is more like it. So you think I'm looking at 46.5cm forks? They're listed for 26" wheels but in the description it states for...

    Confused.com about fork length.

Hi all. I'm thinking of replacing my Suntour XCR forks with a pair of Exotic Cycles carbon rigids. The XCRs are 130mm travel and 440mm axle to crown length. Exotic cycles fork chooser list is bewildering but I'm looking at these: http://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=958&[/url] It says they're...

    Sigma Sport computer.

Evening all. I've dug out from the depths of my toolbox an old Sigma Sport wireless computer last used about 12 years ago on my Scott Comp. It still works  but the rubber o-ring which holds the sensor to the forks has perished into dust. I've searched on t'internet for Sigma spares...

    AAARGH!!!

Thanks to RAFbikes and Orange71 for the PM's, but I'm really looking for something ready to ride, but I'll have a serious think. No need for high-end kit, decent mid range spec will do for me (I can always upgrade to shinier stuff, providing I'm quicker off the mark in the 'for sale' section!)...

    AAARGH!!!

Why do I always find tasty shiny things on here - after they have been sold :x Likewise with ebay - why do I always find interesting retro bikes that are a million miles away, for collection only, which completely cancels out the bargain? Grrr... do we have a *bangs head against wall*...

    What grease would you recommend...?

Castrol CM is a calcium based grease. It's fine for lubricating things like shackles, tow ball hitches, and boat trailers but is not designed to cope with heat, friction, and shear forces in bearings. I'd stick with Castrol LM as it is Lithium based and is specifically designed for bearings...
