    Old English bike, but what?

Re: I rewrapped the handlebars because I didn't like how they looked. This time I used cloth tape with string wrapping coated with shellac on the ends.

Thank you. I've ordered a few different decals with "made in England" and the British flag so I'll see what they're like and decide then.

    Old English bike, but what?

Re: Thank you guys. He was able to save the chrome on the head tube lugs and the front and rear dropouts. He did a nice job on it. Now if I could just decal it, it would look complete.

    Old English bike, but what?

I think you're on the right track. I've been thinking 9-month(or date),51-year,12-date(or month),7-frame number. Ekla is about as close as I can come up with also on the crown. Thanks for your ideas. Now if I could just find someone with the same number pattern, I may be able to decal it when I...

Here's a link to an old thread on Bike Forums that was started by the previous owner when he was looking for help to ID the frame. One of the people in that thread was the guy that he got it from years earlier. That...

    Old English bike, but what?

Re: Re: I should have clarified better in my first post that the chrome on the fork cannot be saved. The frame and fork are being painted right now. It will retain the chrome head tube lugs though. I'll begin building it up soon as I get it back, but it won't have any decals applied unless I...

    Old English bike, but what?

Re: Has anyone ever seen a serial number pattern like this before? How about the seat tube lug with the letter "A". Do you recognize the fork crown because I've not been able to identify it? The rear dropouts are Stallard, but what about the fronts? 40s,50s,60s? What's your best guess?
