It was a so nice to have the Overburys back after Nicks Ownership, his choices were perfect in my eyes, which really did cement the direction for me on Orange in the end I think.
The Overburys advert too, a fun part, whether myth or Legend, Overburys made a statement and with the best of British Humor and gave us some fabulous adverts, that too this day still resonate.
So with the Orange being recovered, the formula name and its meaning, i wondered if it was possible to have the opposite build to the
XT Overburys..? Suntour was the choice as campag had been done, as you know.
Looking at the choices available at the time, pickings were slim, and most of the spec for this is very very well used, and sometimes second or third attempt because most of the stuff that's affordable and spec correct is worn out.
So I'm confident there's plenty of room for improvement yet.
Its your opinion with this, that matters, and you, I come too when I don't know with all things Orange. (thank you again).
Difficult choice Suntour really, this frame is on the cusp of the Shimano launch of 21spd Hyperglyde,
Suntour was a little behind, thankfully we can still find road stuff that is available, or thats what I hoped for.
Long story of broken/ worn out parts, but discovering the Black flag Cranks on an Old Brochure in the Archives was a revelation, I only ever saw silver.
It was also nice to see the IRD Stroker, in the thread, its shows what was happening and how we were thinking back then with such limited supply of components in a relatively new market.
Having the word Formula and its true meaning of "any Choice of components you wish", and then trying to remain age correct,
and show a level of quality to rival the Overburys,
and be Non Shimano and Black...... wasn't just hard it was mental 35 years later.
I can see some details and room for improvement already, and I think only time will allow for them..., but looking at this thread I think 6 years is long enough for now.
