1976 Crustnalgo Super - a project

Panaracer Paselas can be found in 27x1" or 25-630. That would equal to OD of a 29-622 tire so maybe those could fit, but probably not.

Yes and no.

Originally these had about 19-25mm wide 28" tubulars.

You got the chrome back and the paintjob and transfers look really nice👍
Thanks for this information 👍

The Paselas I have are 32-630 so 25-630's might just work.

And yes that's a great point about tubs... I know some people love them, but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the faff... which is odd considering how much faff I bother with to restore these things 😄

Thanks for your comments - you can never get chroming perfect - without re-chroming, which is costly, so I have gone down the cosmetic route 🙂

How wide those old 27" tires were?
Older Colnagos may have enough room for 622 30-32mm tires, but when putting the wheels on the chain stay likely gets in the way.

Would be nice if Panaracer made the GravelKing Slick in 27x1" as I have one nice set of 27" wheels, but I'm not interested in Paselas or schwalbes that seem to be the only option for 27" now.

Have you considered light(non-tubeless) 25-28mm folding clinchers with TPU or latex tubes? I weighed a Vittoria Rubino Pro and TPU tube and they are about 250g + 30g per wheel

"so while it polished up well where there is still some chrome, it has some missing... I have a couple of plans on this bit which I am going to try!" Did not see this comment by you.. So, you painted the parts where the chrome was missing?

I'm not sure on the old tyres, They were rotten through and I chucked them - I should have measured them - or at least noted the sizing.

I agree on the gravel kings - I have them on a couple of other bikes and, apart from being difficult to fit on some rims, they are great.

Pasela's and Schwalbes do seem to be the only branded options available - I think Baldy's do some as well, but I wasn't all that impressed with a pair of 26 1x3/8 I got from them - they are cheap after all.

I did look at the Vittoria Rubino's ! I like them, but they are a bit 'loud' for this bike, so I have a pair of Pirelli P Zero's which I got half price which I am going to try instead - they are 28's hopefully they will work🤞

On the fork crown - yes I used some chrome paint. It's OK and will do for now. I did get a quote to re chrome them - but it was significantly more than I paid for the bike... the paint looks OK from 6 feet - and I could have done a better job of it probably.

Most importantly, it is protective and non-destructive, so if I, or someone else, wants to get them re chromed in the future they can do so.
