My 1988 REI Ponderosa .

My first MTB acquired in 1988 an REI Ponderosa designed by Scot Nicol of IBIS Bicycles. Made of Tange MTB Tubing in Japan. Mostly original with shimano MT60 components. Originally had 5 speed thumb shifters but an over the bars incident caused them to be replaced by 7 speed lx shifters. Nitto stem,SR Laprade seat post.

REI is a sporting goods chain here in the US, many locations and they cover pretty much every sport and have house made gear for most of them. tents, bikes, carabiners, etc
