Kenny, you appear to be up on the old Pro-flex bikes. I have one of the old Animal models which had the elastomer problem where they turned to bubble gum. I want to retrofit springs in place of them as the bike as been sitting for years. As I see newer models that appear to have the same shock system with springs, Girvin must have come up with a suitable replacement. Can you tell me where I can source some? Or if I could just get the specs ala, wire size and spring weight I may be able to have them made up custom.

Hi, Yes you can replace the old Elastomers with retrofit springs. It won't be cheap. Some of the 'newer' Proflex bikes can be replaced by standard Noleen 'spring' replacements with both front and rear versions. However I would recommend to replace with Risse Racing as these with fit virtually all models (front & rear) (including Animal 1995 and 'newer') of Proflex bikes 1993/95 and 'newer'. They have 3 models ( the Genesis, the Astro-5 and the Terminator) which are air shocks, which allow lots of variations to suit your weight and bike use. I've used my own with Astro-5 which are very good. If you can stretch for the Terminator they are even better. All are from USA and you will have to pay UK Customs (see Risseracing.com - link Proflex and or Noleenj6.com - link Proflex).

Thanks for all that info on Proflex! I also am obsessed with them. I have seven of them........I know I'm a HOARDER but I can't resist a deal when ever it comes my way. Here's my list 755,855,856,[2]656,beast& a 656x which I believe is a prototype because it has front & rear disc brakes. The X I took as experimental? It's the only one I ever seen with discs. Your feedback would be appriecated. Thanks

Hi, Thanks you like my story on PROFLEXTHESIS. Yes you will see a number of my pic's on a couple of Proflexes fitted with discs. There was known actually made by Proflex or K2 themselves. All done privately with others equally obsessed.....

Thanks, I've attached my own Proflex 'Family'. (left to right) my K2 Proflex 4000 -is tremendous with the K2SmartShock (electronics - make it the magic carpet) on the fronts when on the cobbles and very rough stone, next the 857 - brilliant on any trail, then the 757 with Risse Astro5 - at rear - brilliant for fast up hills, then the 656 with the elastomers front and rear stripped (as very poor) and fitted with to Landrover Defender Suspension Bushes which are so much better (Fit 4 x Ref BEARMACH BR 0695). So them electronic forks really good then are they easy to fix i thought you would have a lot more or are these the ones you just kept haha
