It has some lovely touches. I'm halfway through another Raleigh Royal at the moment. I don't usually start or investigate until I've finished the previous bike. I just had to know.

The only brand that comes to mind is lytaloy ,they made headsets for various British bicycle companies. Maybe a prototype?I Know they made pedals for
Notably : Hobbs, Claud Butler and Bates .

Sorry Paul, it was the pedals I needed identifying. I'm pretty sure the headset is a Brampton Alatet.
My Dayton has the Lytaloy headset, it's so light.

Could Lytaloy of made the pedal as a prototype, thats what I failed to explain

A lot of the pictures of each machine are side on and do not list all the components used .

As you will be aware they made pedals for Hobbs .

That is a possibility. It looks like the plates need removing to get the outer bearing off. I will investigate.

Scandia marked on the inside of the left crank.

among other things, Scandia was a marque employed by Monark-Crescent Bicycles - MCB

MCB models were sometimes transferred as Scandia...perchance a means of packing more product into a given market...

have not previously encountered a chainset bearing the name



in this image chainset appears to be of the Y-pattern variety
unlike many three-bolt chainwheels of the era the example here shows not the three arrow pattern

would think the Y-pattern would tend to somewhat limit the possible producers...

any markings found on backside of chainwheel?

enough of bottom bracket assembly can be seen to eliminate the Verot Nr. 34 as a possibility

spindle end is at least counterbored, be it hollow?
