Long overdue tinkering now Pace equipped Explosif. Forum appreciation post..

Day off today, so I finished tinkering, and installing the Pace airforce I’ve had for ages,
Wanted for over twenty years in this bike I’ve had from new as a frame only purchase..
It feels just about perfect now, though today may not leave time for a proper ride.
The bars came off here, the forks and the servicing by the wonderful Tim at forkenglish ( just in the Nick of time..!) on here, the xt bits I upgraded the few non xt bits from the original build with, the pedals.. basically I’ve managed to get this exactly how I want it because of various people on here, if you are reading this any of you, Thankyou.

Now I’ve still get several more retro bikes to sort in coming weeks and try and ride more.

Yep, less so with high rise bars and losing the project twos, but still very agile.

I am not a big fan of Matt paint on anything, hence all the more old school polished parts and low level bling colour bits from middleburn and xlite in the colours of the tube set decal.
I couldn’t afford this when I got it , so it didn’t have the full xt, and it didn’t have the hope/mavic wheels..
it did have the s/h syncros post as they are the best posts ever made and I wish I could have one in every bike I own.. likewise the middleburn chainset.
Both things I have on another kona I’ve had since I was 16, 44 currently..!

This bike has the pinnacle of bike parts to me, for quality and longevity..

In the day to day world I am just the weirdo who likes shit old bikes.
I can plead they weigh half what your modern does, and have already given decades of service with no more than chains, cassette, and brake block tyre combos which I don’t really count..!
Nobody cares, but I am not easily led, it’s just nice coming here, and recognising a few people have given amazing service, or sensible deals on parts etc and it’s gotten me there.

Would look better and used to be setup this way but my back says more important I can enjoy riding it..
I have an old kileaua which is set up more traditionally but it’s a half hour tops bike or I pay the next day.. it’s got a 120 long stem and flat bars with xlite bar ends, looks perfect but yeah not for longer rides!
Hoping this setup with the forks makes longer rides more enjoyable.
Especially the day after .
