Switch out wheels like a F1 team!

potentially interchangeable bike to bike too - that could be a winner if it doesn't get squashed by companies that would lose out on lucrative sales no?
 
Hub flanges are very close together, doesn't make for a very strong wheel.

Agreed, I think I'd fold that up. As you say, not a strong wheel.

With modern rims i think you can make strong narrow flange wheels. With low spoke counts, too. Flanges have been getting closer and closer with increased cassette sizes and discs , but even with dropout spacing increasing the drive side spokes are really dished. Not far from being almost straight up to the rim.
