For Sale Dave Yates Road Bike - Reynolds 753 - 20in frame - Full Dura Ace

Retro Newbie
I recently bought this and got the right wheels for it, refreshed the cables and bar tape etc. New tyres. I am thinking of selling it on as I've not used it. If I can't get the right price I will just keep it. But having a punt at £750. Its lovely to ride. I got carried away and bought 4 retro bikes. Not enough room for them all. This is going to get the least use.

This is an amazing Spec Bike. Full Dura Ace groupset. Mavic Open SUP rims. Reynolds 753 frame. Proper top of the range bike from around the late 80s. Eroica ready!

Speedplay pedals not included.

Hi @rikster thats the starting bid. I won't be taking less that £750. I'll just keep it otherwise. Spent more than £750 getting it finished.

Hmm, so not getting any bits on this. I'm wondering what the true value is? I know its as much as someone is prepared to pay and its a waiting game etc.

People rarely buy whole bikes on this site unless they are very good value or a very specific maybe rare bike they’ve been looking for. Frame and forks yes at the right price and all of the other parts definitely.
Not to say it’s not worth the £750 you’re holding out for possible on eBay with some patience.

You essentially have 3 problems.
First, the used market is dead. You may get lucky and hit the one-wonder customer, but generally you're going to have to give it away, which I understand nobody wants to do
Second, it's a small size, so your potential market is limited
Third, it's a complete bike. That's nice, but anyone buying it will undoubtedly want to change some of the components to their preference. So they are stuck with buying things they don't want or need.

To maximise income, you need to strip it and sell piecemeal. Yep, it's more work - more buyers, more messing with chancers, more parcels to despatch etc

Or if you want to sell it whole or need the space or money quickly, keep dropping the price until you get a bite, but expect disappointment

Thanks @pigman makes sense I guess. If you want a bike like this you're intro old bikes and want your own spec. I will leave it there for a while and see what happens. Maybe I will just put some modern/retro brake levers on it (the most uncomfortable part) and keep it and actually ride it! 😀Its a nice bike to ride for sure.
