Hey just found this wrecked GT with odyssey parts, can I save it......? Looks early 2000!

Today went well.:)
Spent alot of time changing over the rusty spokes! I trued the wheel to exactly the same tension per spoke took awhile doing two at a time, but it was worth it.
The chewed out Tech77's came out really well didn't they?? 😁😂🤣
Preparing the wheel for some primer from the brake wear.
I'm still thinking about the rear wheel and changing out some of the rough looking spokes. It would be about 6 to 8 that I could replace with new, as I still have some spares left over.
I'll take on the Stem next as it need a spruce where the chips and marks are bothering me.

Finally finished the front wheel came out good 👍Worked hard on the pedals seems someone had used paint stripper and never cleaned the stuff off and it eaten the aluminium making the paint flake off in places.🤔 1000026279.webp

Pedals came up good.

I think they came looking trashed from GT. 🤣
You could be right🤐 I've seen better DXs pedels ,but hey ho keeps me busy 😄🤫
Rear wheel next and I've forgotten about painting mid frame tube, seen some rust scars near welds🫣

Thanks everyone 😇

Not much to report as have to wait for paint to harden up and cure a bit before mounting stuff.
One front wheel is definitly finished, started on the other one, but I get really upset when you take one spoke out and its 5mm shorter than the ones you have already got😅
I did change out two of the worst offenders, and trimmed it out as it was a double walled rim.
The stem was really hard to match as its brushed Aluminium finish so touched it up best I could .
The new gyro which I got really cheap, was cheap for a reason. Its all black even the detanger, so Im going to use it I know its not chrome, but I did get the whole kit cheaply, all I need from it is the inner cables and some adjusters.
I'm tempted to splash out on a CNC customised gyro, but its like 40 pounds.
I've lost the pin part on the chain think it went in garden when I had chucked the vinegar out on weeds.
Can I just take one link out and use the pin from the link behind?🤔
My spend on this bike has hit probably near enough the £160 mark on something I took and found on a whim......😇

nothing special about the pin. yes you can run 2 links shorter, assuming there's enough room in the drop out to slide the wheel forwards enough.
other option is a split link, but we never really did this on a BMX.
you shouldn't push the pin all the way through. Stop with about a mm left and still in the back plate, the twist the chain to pop the inner link out.
