I did have 42 earlier in the year and I discovered the meaning of life was to divest as one gets older.

If you have ever worked for a large organisation you will know that an "audit" is generally carried out to give the illusion of doing something about a perceived issue while actually it is just a performance that leads to very little change while serving its main objective in placating the naysayers.

Downsized from 17 to 22, moved house, now have two sheds instead of a single garage, bought another bike and somehow ended up with <checks> 21

I have perfected the art of bicycle sardines! Would you believe that over 30 of them fit in a single garage?

Surely only the ones near the door are readily available for use, so the ones at the back stay there until the next audit. ..... or maybe you have a winter/summer rearrangement procedure

Yes indeed only about 10 bikes are readily available (by which I mean maybe 30 seconds to extract. But that is genrally enough to be rotating at any one time.

Illusion? I keep telling the missus the amount of bikes she thinks I have is actually a mirage caused by a small number of highly polished bikes .
