Unused Tioga Disk Drive Pro- Valuation/Time to Sell?

I was fortunate to have purchased a Disk Drive Pro back in the early 2000’s from a former US Tioga Rep who was having a clear out.

Originally built by Tioga with an engraved date of 9/92 on the M231 Ceramic Rim, it’s a Version one 36h on an M900 XTR hub and cassette with the original QR skewer, all unused.

There’s enough spare hardware to almost build another wheel along with two inflation adapters, Tioga thread-lock, a wrench and immaculate carry bag.

It’s never even had a tyre fitted but I have an unused Butterscotch Psycho ll K which was meant to have been fitted when I intended it for use with my M2 S-Works Team.

At 32 years old there is a little degradation as expected, even having stored it out of direct sunlight for many years.

I’m toying with selling it and had hoped to gauge what I could sell it for and whether now is a good time? Prices seem to vary hugely.

Thanks for any input you can provide as I’ve lost touch a little with the MTB scene over the years but literally used to live it and appreciate the Retrobike site massively.

Cheers- Mark IMG_8659.webp IMG_8658.webp IMG_8657.webp IMG_8660.webp IMG_8662.webp IMG_8656.webp IMG_8847.webp

If you're not sure, put it out there at a high price.

Looks like you've got near perfect condition, best model hub - someone might even be prepared to dig 4 figures deep into their wallet for it.
So my proposed offer of a packet of Spangles and a half eaten Toffeecrisp isn’t going to be enough? 🙂

Lovely thing in lovely condition, but well out of my budget.

Get you mr moneybags, just swishing your spangles around the place.

Agree the is perhaps 3 zeros on the end of the price of that, assuming you can find the right buyer.
Thebparts are worth a chunk separately too.

Appreciate the feedback, and the recent example sold. I had previously heard of them fetching good money, very encouraging as funds raised will go towards some renovations.

Is this pre Christmas period a good time or waiting until the cheerier weather arrives I wonder?

Thanks all.

Re. Timing.

I’d think that someone who was in the market for a NOS disk drive, isn’t someone who’d be thinking “let’s see how Christmas pans out budget wise”.

IMHO Season drift will not make much of a difference for this item and a prospective buyer.

You are either looking for one, can afford it or not.
