Surprised the Thorn committee didn't have you locked up or hung for riding with such an awfully short steerer

It looked very nice. I love Thorn's, for a while they were as high on my list as a Surly, but as I was intending buy within Denmark at first I knew if my chances were slim in regards to Surly, I'd imagine it'd be nearly impossible to source a Thorn. Eventually I got the cross check for 450 quid in Copenhagen. I've yet to see a Thorn over here.

I'd like a MK1 Audax. Thorn are nice but heavy, My Randonneur does the same job and is a good couple of pounds lighter.

I always assumed Thorn were overbuilt to quite a large degree because they're designed for heavy loaded touring, am I right in assuming that?

Yes correct but so is the Rando. Weight as you know isn't critical though.
