1987 Raleigh Avanti *****Finished*****

Cheers coomber.

The bars are the original Nitto and at a very reasonable 660mm wide.

The u-brakes spoil this era for me, damn things clag up quicker than johhny clag in a clagging up contest.

Nice job.

Totally agree, I love the look of then and clean seat stays but they are a pain in the ass, especially this time of year.

I love this. And the colour! Now I know where Dawes got the idea for their 1989 range - my 1st 'ATB' was an '89 Dawes Tracker - and if your Avanti wasn't the Proto-daddy of that very same beastie then I'll be knocked down by a feather.

Remember this?

Well Im going to be putting up for sale ( I think) and have asked what sort of price should I sell if for in the How much thread.

MADB, I know this is a really old thread but I wonder if you could help me out please. One of these Avantis came into our community workshop and we're refurbishing it, but I'm struggling with the correct cable routing, with regards to the rear brake. Currently there's a two-channel plastic cable guide under the BB shell, presumably for the gear cables. So, where's the central cable for the rear brake meant to go? Was it originally a 3-channel that's been replaced before the bike came to us or am I missing something?
