Nocim....my Edwardian hotrod speed machine!

Cheers! Scuse my ingnorance but what's vscc?

Yep...the VSCC is the Vintage Sports Car Club as Joe Rides posted.

If you like pre-war cars, the smell of hot oil, noise and man-in-a-shed engineering then go to a VSCC race day, or hillclimb, and have a look around the paddock.

You will see some fantastic parts(lots of brass bits) and an eclectic mix of cars, with lots of history, driven with great gusto. Aero enginned cars, Morgan 3 wheelers, chain driven cars and Austin 7 single seaters with superchargers are the norm. The Austin 7 engines are bonkers now and anyone who knows of them might be amazed to hear them at full chat and to know the normally aspirated race engines are now around 60bhp, rev to 5 figures and cost about £12k. Probably more now as that price is a few years old from back when I was involved.

Head to Goodwood for the VSCC sprint which kicks the year off, or the VSCC hillclimb at Shelsley Walsh, or the VSCC race day at Silverstone. They are a very much out of place at Silverstone though they do get to stretch their legs and attracts the big aero engined cars, but the hillclimb venue or Goodwood feels and looks right. The Goodwood sprint was free to spectate at but maybe you have to pay now but at least you don't have to dress up like Marilyn Monroe or Churchill!

For slightly newer cars a really good meeting to go to is the traditional end of season HSCC(historic sports car club) day, at Silverstone. They normally have open-wheeled and closed-wheeled 'allcomers' races where you might see an old F3 against F5000 and Minis against Lola T70's. Other races will be the normal HSCC fare of period saloons, sports, GT, single seater etc.

So challenge accepted!
What a challenge it was getting it straight...
3 big attempts to get it good.twice it checked out fairly good on my huge jig I'd built on my lathe bed but until I'd built it up and tried to ride it...

I love casual references like that. You are truly modest about what must be some serious skills and experience.

Loving this build, although the 64T chainring must make your eyes pop out on any gradient!

Ah ha!
I was trying to figured the "s" of vscc...!
Cars! Yes I have had an affliction with them....I'm now car free ✌️. Old volks was my thing....still do love a flat air-cooled engine....to me engine wise theres nothing more amazing than a Porsche 4 cam....a true work of engineering wizadry nigh on 200hp from 2 litres naturally aspirated 🤩
I've done the Goodwood revival a few times ....was very lucky to catch the gt40 anniversary .....Sheesh...theres was probably about 30 of them on the track racing.ill also never forget seeing the one of kind Shelby breadvan crashing through the kitty litter and hitting the bank right Infront of me....you get your money's worth at that event although the breadvan owner didn't!

Well I wouldn't call my self seriously skilled 😊
Determination persistence and generally a give it a go attitude is how I learn and get things done!
Someone gave me a great bit of advice once..
Failure ....the compost of success!
That always rattles around my head when I'm taking a challenge on!
That chainring often makes me wince.... I live on a marsh so it's 20 miles to anything like a hill however the marsh has its own climate.... usually always a wind blowing and no hedge cover!
I will work out the gear inches one day ... I don't think it's that wild..but essentially it's like a tough single speed with an overdrive and a warp drive on top ...not that i see much of that!
