What's your 26" road tyre choice?

My Daily Warrior rarely goes off road, occasionally onto hard packed paths. Never in mud!

I've been running Panaracer Mach SS for the last three years and they seem to suit me well. I bought some Continental Contact Plus Travel commuter tyres but my bike felt less responsive with them fitted, even with them at high pressures.

I like the look of Schwalbe Billy Bonkers, but don't really want a tyre that slows me down, anyone have experience of these?

I have seen some Mach SS tyres for sale at high prices but they look to have as much wear as mine, plus they are all really old now.

Any suggestions for suitable replacements?

You can trust city slickers...I've loved them for years. On tarmac and concrete grip is amazing being slick. No central ridge just a water channel which makes them feel lively. Avoid the copy ones compound is greasy...
Have a set of specialised fat boys which are pretty good but still prefer the city slickers.

I don't anymore but it's possible to scrape peddles cornering on city slickers!

That's some price though at £50 a tyre! I pay the same for the tyres on my wife's car...

Look like great tyres, but too expensive for my budget.

I bought a pair of Vittoria Voyager 26x1.75, they'd been lightly used and only cost me a tenner, they're great on my commuter, quite light, fairly low rolling resistance and very comfortable.

My dream 26'' slicks are Rene Herse Rat Traps or Elk Pass, I had a go on a friends bike with rat traps and they felt amazing, look nice too with the tan walls and light as a feather.

I also had a pair of Kojaks, some of the lightest you can get, not the best for rolling resistance but they look so nice and are a lot of fun.

I like the idea of kojaks, I read sipes on a bicycle tyre for road use are not needed as aquaplaning is a physical impossibility.

Panaracer Pasela 26 x 1.25" is my go-to for mostly road use where it might encounter the occasional rougher path. The folding bead version is light and 32mm is a comfy option on the road.

I've also run an old pair of rustwall Continental Grand Prix 26 x 1.0s. Purely a road bike tyre, fast though!

When I can find them, I love Maxxis Wormdrive. They don't make them anymore, so I'm stuck buying new old stock. Luckily, I've found a NOS set of 26" F/R specific pattern and compound, and a set of 700x32. I'm still rolling on an old, sun faded pair on my Kona Humu too, and I bought those NOS some 8 years ago. All of the ones I have happen to include an orange sidewall stripe, but they came plain black as well.

Speaking of, anyone have any Maxxis Wormdrive tires for sale?
