Coolest brake levers - opinions!?

I cant share in the boutique stuff (opinion and experience) as I have no memory of them bitd, and wouldn't pay the asking prices now. Most of them, seem to not blend in very well until you get lower down in the range where diacompe, tektro seem to look ok, work well too.

My proflex sports the one and only...

No one’s mentioned Magura Shorty motorbike levers. I’ve cobbled together about 7 pairs together in my time from mismatched pairs and perches. They feel great I think because of how flattened the levers are on the vertical plane if that makes sense. Not for the weight weenies though 😅.

Not boutique
Not polished to within a micron of their lives
Not CNC
Not the lightest by a long way

And yet, there's something I like about them. So much so that I have a pair I'm keeping for a single speed project. Admittedly the barrel adjusters could be better, but I usually just screw those all the way in and adjust the cable length at the cantilevers/calipers. And you can still get good examples on Ebay for sensible money.

... Now the question is finding a fit with shifters as these were made to work with Egs shifter...

Interesting...the right hand EGS-specific brake lever mounts directly onto their gear shifter:

So your pair of 'normal' levers, with a standard bar clamping RH lever, is very rare...the only ones that I've ever seen, pictures or in the flesh:

Doesn't help with them not fitting well with any other gear levers, though.

All the best,

KCNC VB1

Apparently one of the lightest brake levers in the world at 23g each. No idea if they're actually any good 🙃

Also not that retro... but still cool
