Spotted by @sherlylock earlier today... I'm thinking its a wind @legrandefromage Special, would have been perfect if it was in Bournemouth...

'Claude' is definitely a boy. But if Claude prefers to be Claudette sometimes . . . Well, that's his choice.

As for Claud Butler . . . Poor bugger probably spent his life feeling cheated out of an 'e' on the end of his forename. Fortunately, decal designers have been restoring his rightful quota of letters ever since. ;)

Or something like that.

Nah… Claude is a French/Latin female name.. has been for centuries, they even had a few Queen Claude’s
But it’s an unimportant fact that in modern times people can’t be arsed or even deliberately miss spell names…

Claude Monet, Claude Levi-Strauss, Claude Debussy . . . All male. It's a boys' name too, and probably more commonly in the twentieth century. 'Claud' is just an alternative spelling, not the masculine equivalent to a feminine 'Claude'.

The misspelling of names is sloppy but unsurprising. Reading and writing standards are poor, in general.
