What Raleigh did I buy

looks like a sprite but the downtube shifters are a bit of an oddity for a flat bar.
don't think you are going to find a frame number under that paint either. :(

mount of the right fork leg is for an ever ready light.
ah thanks for the info

I don't think it's a GP. wrong seat stay join, the GP has an inverted fillet. the fork crown isn't right either.
I have a Carlton GP from 78 in the loft that was the same frame hence I'm not convinced. they did share the main lugs and I've seen GP's with different lugs so it's possible I guess.

Ill just give is a new name a late 1970 Raleigh Mystery

This is something like a 1980 usa-sold Raleigh Grand Prix (silver/blue era). I checked the catalogs and up through 1979 they used IC french DP+ vagner fork crowns, but this one has a cheap stamped & welded fork crown - I have one of these same forks in my garage - someone sent it to me as a "thank you" identifying it as a grand prix fork but it is a little too economical - stamped and welded, rattle-can sprayed flat dull blue, not my cup of tea:

They had just begun adopting asian parts and the fork crown or even the entire fork might even be asian-made.
