I have the Serial Number documented as KH77017, although I'm not entirely sure that this is correct - perhaps you could confirm, and add some pictures when you get the bike?

Yes that's the one. Ill will definitely add some pics when i get it

As promised, here it is. I can confirm that the serial number listed is accurate. I still cannot believe i have this bike. It's exactly what i wanted(good tubing plus 94-96 style decals). I never really cared much for the decals after 97.
I will ride it as is for now and would likely just change the grips pedals and saddle.

Found this forum after being curious about the nice bike I just picked up at a garage sale in my neighborhood in Alaska. It rides nice. A Kona Hot TeT 1431.

What does the "C" stand for in the serial number. Would like to know more about it if anyone has some info. This looks like the best place to find out.

my guess would be the C stands for 'custom geometry' given the size of the frame, that's the biggest Kona I have ever seen!

Thank you very much for posting these pictures. Wow that is a big frame you have there.

Could you please tell me the measurement from the centre of the Bottom Bracket to top of the Seat Tube. I have 21" frames on record, which have 170mm Head Tube, and yours looks similar to those.

I agree with Primo here - we assume that Tom Teesdale Stamped a "C" into the Serial Number if the frame was a Custom size or Cable Stop arrangement. I have a couple of these on record.

Your frame is a 1994 model, with Tange Ultimate Ultrastong tubing and a Ribbed Down Tube.

I will add your frame to the Kona Hot Serial Number List when I next update it.

Thank you for the info so far guys. I was just measuring it! Looked up some videos to try to figure out the frame size as I'm a complete newb.

Here are some dimensions, I hope I placed the tape measure correctly.

I'm 5'8" and can tippy toe to the pavement when seated. Snug as a bug in a rug when off the seat in front. Probably not the right size bike for me but I love how it rides.

I can't see if your tape starts at the very centre of the Bottom Bracket Axle in the first picture, but I see that the second picture has the measurement of 22"!

The Headtube measurement seems to be 7" or 175mm, as that is the quirky mix of imperial and metric that these frames are measured! Your tape looks like it starts on the bottom of the lower cup in that last picture, rather than just measuring the Frame's Tubing.

Anyway, it would indeed appear that this is a larger frame than the biggest stock size of 21".

It is a lovely bike, but at 5' 8", it is way too big for you. An 18" would be nearer your size.

Would you be able to show a picture of the Dropouts, which I assume are without the Triangle cut-out?

.... And could you confirm that the tape starts at the centre of the Bottom Bracket in the 2nd picture that shows a measurement of 22" to the top of the Seat Tube?

If you glance at the Serial Number List, you'll see that this is the sort of detail that is documented on there, and is helpful for my own records as well.
