Removing softtail shock

Has anyone removed one of these before? I want to get the frame resprayed and need to strip it. I'm sure it's easy but just thought I'd ask for advice here before I attempt.

Is there not a slotted end at the bottom of the shock? Undo the bolts and it will slide out.

Is there not a slotted end at the bottom of the shock?

Top and bottom bolts are simple enough but there's a c-clip ring and I'm not sure if that needs to come off or not. Might just have to suck it and see.
