I would say Wester Ross , had a fascinating visit to their workshop when I was 15 in 1984 . I don't think it was famous but I certainly respect it.

Zinn. Although the Campag gears were shite on mine, I LOVED it. Prob one of the very few bikes that command a decent price these, unlike so many others.

Zinn is a great shout. Their frames always looked great and had neat touches. Made well and from good tubing.
Putting suntour of old into the hat. Great kit, looked good, worked well, just didn't survive competing with shimano in the early 90s. Which was a shame as imho xc pro was better than xt and xtr in many respects.

Maeda SunTour. the inventors of the slanted parallel rear derailleur (not to be confused with current day SR-Suntour).
They were still a big thing in MTB thru the 80's, with the XC lines, In the early 90's, they revolutionized the "compact" driveline with XC-Pro Microdrive, Shimano followed with XTR.
They were a much smaller company than Shimano, who were able to rely on other businesses to fund their bike components division.
Then SunTour purchased the rights or licensed the Browning electric (or whatever it was) driveline in the late 80's. It was a flop and SunTour was really never able to recover.
By the time I bought my XC-Pro Microdrive in late 1993, they were ready to fold. Sad end for a truly inventive company.
