genuine ask - is it just me who hates Reverbs?

I have four reverb droppers (three old series 1 and 2, and one new button on the top model). I have never had sag on two of them, and they have functioned well. The third just develops sag at the drop of a hat. Second service, developed sag two weeks after service....grrrr. People say 'easy home service' and I have been through all the service videos and run out of the will to live about 10 minutes in. It seems SO complex and specific. Even the step-by-step videos make it seem like a mad game of irrational steps, with each one a recipe for screw-ups. VERY scary. It is just me? I fully rebuild hydraulic brakes with no problem what so ever. But this.....arrgh.

Should I purchase the mountain of special tools and spares and have a go?

Best thing I did to my reverbs (x2) was sell them and then buy a dropper that actually reliably works. I’ve never met anyone with a reverb with a good word to say.

Those brand X droppers are good for the cash and work well. I’ve got a on/off dropper on my hardtail which has been faultless for 2-3 years. I’ve just built my newest full sus with a one up dropper as it gets good reviews.

I've learned to love the 1cm sag on mine. I can't fix it and it doesn't get any worse.

Ditto. The oneup seems pretty well built and has a nice lever. I know a few people with them now.

I bought a 2nd hand bike with one & before I'd finished the test ride it was destined for the bin (sold it spares or repair). I had a Thomson on another bike (I'd won most of it as a prize - long story) that worked flawlessly so got another, used, on ebay. Didn't let me down. Coupled them with Wolf Tooth levers.

The Brand X ones get lots of good reviews.

I've got two, bought the original as an experiment (65% discount because it's an odd spec) used through two Swedish winters.
Bought one for the best bike, that's done 18 months.

Neither of them have missed a beat.

Popped the oldest one open a few weeks ago. Didn't even need a proper service. Or a clean really. Should have left it.

MattR - that’s interesting - and that’s my experience - I have one which has never missed a beat - up, down, up, down, and this other one which misbehaves all the time. I’m handy with spanners and do most things, but the service approach to the Reverb seems frighteningly complex. When you say ‘popped the oldest one open’ how complex do you feel the service procedure is?

I must have been lucky with mine as both I have had have been OK. And just a shout out for Brand X, I have them on my Fatbike and my Daughters bikes and for the price they are spot on

I had one on a bike I bought.

saggy.
Heavy.
Awful lever.
needs a bleed kit to install.
(expensive new)

It's sat in the garage. replaced with a Crank bros that has been faultless.
