The latest Coolwall vote has been declared! Bula is UNCOOL. It would seem the company which made 100s of 15 year olds wear ski hats in the height of summer and put the neon into neon is UNCOOL. Next up on the vote are Cannondale. Are the Connecticut based company cool? Does history fondly remember their US made oversized aluminium frames You decide!

Issue two of Privateer magazine is now available, and looks to have sailed over that “difficult second issue” hurdle with grace and style. Insightful, intelligent and in-depth, this isn't a mag that you'll be done with in twenty minutes and then recycle. There's plenty to appeal to Retrobike members, with features on the history of titanium and of course the Old World Mountain Bike Championships. You'll also find a look at the birth of freeride, seven days in Wales, Hermida's facial hair, what's already regarded as the definitive story of Orange and a distinctive inky smell. Plus columns from Steve Peat, Rob Penn and Charlie Kelly. And how tectonics makes trails, and exactly what observed trials has (or hasn't) to do with mountain...

Ok so here’s the story; MikeD contacted me asking if I would be interested in one of my bikes appearing in a magazine feature that he was writing that may or may not make it to press… …after much questioning (on both sides) it was decided, my 1995 S-Works Team FSR would feature in an article comparing the new 2011 model with one of the early ones. Well that’s it, great story you might think; oh no, you see, whilst it might seem straight forward to all you folk out there with evenings and weekends to yourselves, I work Monday to Friday with long commutes at each end, have 4 of my own kids at home plus a stray. Click here to read on… My challenge was how to transform a scattering of parts around my garage into a bike that not only...
A ride moved because of ice conditions. The new route guide came up with a 13 mile loop but then was injured in the line of brake maintenance and couldn't attend. Monumental journeys for some of the participants from Northumberland and Wick. Would we all get there on time. Would we find our way without a guide. Would we manage the 1000ft accent from the Soldiers Leap. Would our bawbags be baltic, find out here....
