I 've been researching these forks and Mr Browning and I have googled out... I have many bits and bobs... I am so very much interested in his story!! but finding stuff is getting difficult!

Cycle Suspension Ltd England and

Browning suspension fork, Marin, Redline BMX , patents

Concorde?

And sadly his sad demise?? as morbid as it seems... I would like to no more about this guy and his designs.

Thanks in advance for any help or info,
cheers

:D :D :D

The forks were also used on Fusion mountain bikes, a small company run by one time Klein importer Greg Oxen IIRC.

Browning

I met the man when he was still optimistic around 1990. I have a fusion 2560 which had the suspension on. It worked really well but failed after 1 year. I did a bit of marketing for him as well when he was trying to get accepted by Cannondale I think. He was responsible for the design of the front suspension leg of Concorde, so when you look at the bike leg they are very similar. A really nice bloke and a proper engineer but as many good designers have found - the UK sometimes doesn't foster innovators - wonder what the Dragons would have made of him. The sad thing is he gambled everything on his product and ended up taking his own life which is so sad.

Hi, thanks for your getting back to me....

Being one of those "Innovators" that Uk has made it painful for... I'm glad I'm a rider 1st as well!!! The riding and the bikes kept me sane! .. well alittle bit ?!
The pressures are immense....

I love the design of the fork... and think he would have been someone I would have got on with!! I just think what he achieved was immense!

:D

I've just found this thread as I have recently got a 1991 Team Marin that has the Browning fork on it, nice bit of history above thanks. Sad he took his own life, such a waste.

But credit to him the forks still works! Ok so the 3 options of damping don;'t change much but it still suspends.
