Insulting bid game

I was watching a 99p start on a pair of Shimano 7401 clipless pedals but forgot about it. I noticed a few days later that the auction had ended with no bids so emailed the seller asking if he was going to relist. He said paypal me the 99p and I'll send the pedals. So he did - free postage !

bike rack for my car, 99p...

Got a message straight after saying "yeah right, like I'm gonna sell it to you for that....."

he was local

he got reported

and negative feedbacked.

He then offered to deliver it in person for free if I retracted my feedback...

I had an auction for an item worth around £60 end for 99p once and I sold it for that exact price.. you takes a gamble.... some you win, some you lose... :D

When selling I start at 99p but build my min price into the postage. Technically against the rules as you don't pay ebay commission on the postage but I figure it's OK as it's not hidden and the buyers know where they stand. You can still lose out if someone local buys it and wants to collect though...

most of the stuff for our next bundle of joy has come through ebay like this.

cot bed: in mother care at £355, bought off ebay for 99p

travel system: online best deal of £185, bought off ebay for £15

bouncer: fisher price rrp £49.99, ebay £1.04

rocking moses basket stand: mother care £25, ebay 99p

spent more in fuel to collect them than i have on the actual bits! will re sell after they are used and either come out on top or at least zero cost.

Friend of mine has just been banned from selling for that.

Although the postage costs were clearly visible he got loads of complaints so ebay shut him down.

They want you to pay them for a reserve so they can make even more money :x

Also pretty sure you'll be paying commision on postage too, especially if you receive the funds through paypal.

I hope people wouldn't complain as I don't take the piss, just charge postage at the high end and use a cheap option to make a bit of money back. P&P of £15 for a frame, £12 for sus forks, when either can be sent for about £7, that kind of thing. I know when i'm buying I figure the postage into my max bid and just consider it part of the price.

You're right that paypal take a cut of everything but I think ebay only do on sale price.

I thought I was about to get a set of Obssys carbon forks for £17 and then got hit by an Ebay sniper in the last 2 seconds who got them for £18.

I was willing to go more but just didn't have time to get another bid in. I hate those sniper programmes
