I've just lost an auction for a purple Lava Dome on eBay, the same one as my very first 'proper' mountain bike
I'll spare you the sentimental "so near yet so far" sob story though
It's quite a long long shot I know but I just wondered if it was someone on here that pipped me to the post on it and by any chance was just after it for the (what seemed to be) pair of white Onza Porcs that it was wearing and was after recouping some of the cost by offloading the other parts.
If so can you pleeeeeeeeeease PM me and I'll gladly take the frame off your hands.
Failing that, if it is someone on here who bought it for a restoration I hope you do the old girl proud and I'm looking forward to seeing her.

Bad luck mate.

After this happened to me a few times I adopted a different tactic. I use a sniper (Gixen) & put in my absolute maximum bid. I then don't look until the auction is finished. I either get it or don't,but the best thing is there are NO regrets.

Gav, I to looked at this as I had exactly the same a 1991 Purple lavadome.

In particular I love the combination of the black project 2 with the purple.

I didn't bother with this one though, as the condition looks poor, and I suspect the porcs bumped the price far above what it would have made.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I really want something on ebay, I snipe in the last few seconds and always put up more than twice the current bid. That is how I got my Saracen, I bid £121 and I got it for £45, mind it cost more in petrol to go and get the thing, but I wanted it and that was that.

I suppose if something means that much to a petrson, they just have to put their money where their mouth is.
