I seem to have a sleeve fitted internally to a pair of forks, this is stopping me inserting the quill. Anyone saw it before? Any ideas? It'd take a really small quill to fully insert. The shim is about 83mm down the steerer bore.

Sleeved fat fork

Sounds like they may have had the steerer extended ie cut n shut thus making them worthless. But seeing Im such a nice guy I will take them off your hands for a fiver

A repair sounds feasible, I don't think its an extension as its quite shorts as is. ZZ the sleeve is only fitted to the lower section, I can still get a regular 1" quill in, just so far before it hits the sleeve.

Oh and its a unicrown.

Well I could trim the quill...not sure if I want to though. If I did and wanted to raise the height at some point I'd have removed a fair portion of adjustment. My wanting the stem dropped is mostly an aesthetics excercise, looking at the headtube a bit of rise will probably be welcome. I do intend to ride this bike so it needs to fit.

The query was more to do with whether FAT unicrowns had a sleeve fitted as standard. or if anyone else had the same issue.

Not a great look but probably comfier
