What's this bike (Parkpre?)

I've just bought and fetched this bike this afternoon, it's been on Gumtree for the past couple of days.

I mainly bought it for the XT chainset which generally sell for about twice what I paid for the entire bike. The bike is actually quite nicely specced throughout and very light.

Although the frame is a tad on the small side (yes, even for me) I would like to know what I've got. It has PFR bars, stem and seatpost which has lead me to believe along with the dropouts that it's a Parkpre.

Here's some photos, I'll be trawling the site in a moment for some clues.

I've just been on the Parkpre website (REKIborter?) and I'm quite excited because I'm pretty sure this belongs near to the top end of the catalogue. I'll wait for some proper advise now before I make a "pin the tail on the donkey" style guess on which model :? .

Should be able to tell on the welds if it is ti.

REKIborter is the man. Send him a pm he will be very happy to help.

Looks high end. If the bike is original should be as well. Is it M737?

Good find. Congratulations!

Clearly the previous owner wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, you might want to put the outer chain ring on the right way round

Nice looking bike though, especially if you only paid around £30 for it as it some nice kit on it, and with a bit of a clean will be extremely nice.

I might be wrong and give you misleading hope....but those rear drop-outs look identical to the Ti Pro Elite: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight=

Under the few scratches it looks raw Ti too. Taking the the seat-post / BB out will quickly see if it is Ti? If it's not, either way it's a nice bike.

I'm thinking it's Ti too, everything is pointing that way.

Excuse my ignorance but what am I looking for when I take the seatpost out that will tell me one way or another. I'm guessing a lack of aluminium oxide?

The welds are small and neat like on a nice steel frame, coomer, but the frame isn't steel :D .

Ishaw, I hadn't noticed the chainring, just took a few quick photos and put it away.

Certianly looks like a Porkpie to me. The PFR (Parkpre Factory Racing) kit, Pulstar hub and Araya RM395 rim are the original OE stuff. The rear drop out looks like it is a Pro Elite Ti frame. Not envious one bit

Congratulations! Strip that blue rattle can paintjob and show the world those welds!
Or leave it and use it as daily pub bike... :)
