Sold some cranks over a month ago.

Everything fine until about a week after the buyer receives them with a message saying he has bought the wrong size....could I return them.
Erm...no...sorry. I would suggest you sell them on.
Then a bit later....what size BB do I need.
68 x 118.5 Octalink....like I have already told you
Then today I get this
i recently purchesd the fsa chainset from you, in july,
unfortunatly, the chainset seems to be damaged. having tryed to
fit it to my bike, using several different bb, octalink and isis.
myself and a local bike shop where unable to fit it. we then
spoke to windwave.com who import FSA products. and they have
told us that should not be happen, and the chainset is most
likely broken. which bb did you use on the chainset?

and this
thankyou for your speedy response. its not odd just factual. i have taken it out of the box oncethank when i noted that it was the wrong size at which point i asked if i could return it and you declined stating you had already spent the money. visually it did look excellent. i made several enquiries to see if it could still be used even though it was the wrong size. i then found out that it could be used if a used extra bottom bracket. the bracket was then bought and i booked it into my local bike shop for them to attach it to my bike. it was then, today that i was informed by the expert in the bike shop that it was broken. i would not have known it was broken by simply looking at it. unfortunately, i cannot except your response that you do not offer returns as the item is broken and unusable. you sold it to me for £132 and now i am unable to use it. i would like a full refund. this is not just a way to try and get my money back, i have tried to use this chainset, but unfortunately the chainset will not fit on either a octalink or isis bottom bracket, we have spoken to windwave.com how import FSA products to england, and it them that informed us that the chainset must be damaged or broken form the outset. this information would not come to light until i try to fit the chainset. i have no option but to inform pay pal and try to get to resolve this. sorry!

As you can see, they were mint when I sold them....If they are damaged now...he has done it.

Should be an interesting little fight!

sorry to say it but you will loose the case and recieve neg feedback :( ebay will not back you as i have found out to my own financial cost several times :(

stick to your guns, looks fine in the advert, rings look almost unused! No damage visible, he is just trying it on.

If it comes to it, say you will accept them back if he posts first and then you will refund, less postage on the way out. (make sure you get to check he hasnt fecked em first.)

That way you can always re-sell, clearly he is trying it on though, Who spends £125 on a carbon crankset without knowing what BB it uses, yet seems to know the lengths he requires.

Good luck, but if he claims with Paypal he will more than likely win, Paypal/Ebay always side with the buyer no matter what, it sucks.

I sent an item to Singapore that i sold on Ebay, got proof of posting, he says he ain't got it, he claimed with Paypal and will get his money back and i loose mine, and he more than likely has the item anyway.

Different situation than yours but will probably end up with you loosing out, tbh i have had it with Ebay, more hassle tha its worth!

i would not have known it was broken by simply looking at it.
Balls. It's not a microchip, it's a crankset -- a hunk of machined metal. If it was broken, you'd be able to see that it was broken. A tortoise with learning difficulties would be able to see that it was broken. You wouldn't need an "expert" to tell you that, unless you were blind as a bat.

And if he didn't know what BB he needed or how to fit it then why the hell did he buy it?

Any pictures? Other wise tell him to F**K off. You have been correct. He is a complete tosser trying to pull a fast one by the sounds of it.
Fight him

I will fight this tooth and nail.
Personally I feel he may have tried to fit the crankset himself, and being the mechanical numpty that he is, has probably damaged the crank himself.
I know most disputes side with the buyer....but I'm not going down without a fight.

Just seen the listing pictures 8) very nice. He got a bloody nice crank set

ask him who his bike shop was and get in touch with them direct and find out what the real situation is.

fight the sod...he says hes tried to fit using a incorrect bb...this would damage the splines.thats his fault not yours.he also states visually the product was fine when he looked at it.dont just quit and give in ..nowt to lose if you fight it.also query wether or not that the independant inspection overby fsa was over the phone or actual physical inspection.he voided his chances by using differant bb even when you advised him what the correct size and make was...
