Remko's 1993 Koga Miyata Skyrunner Carbolite

Recently I ran into one of my all time favorites, a Koga Miyata Skyrunner Carbolite ("All time favorites" as in "when I was a 16-year-old I loved death metal and Miyata's so I still like them today". The second Skyrunner in a year's time. The first one was a 19 inch and too small for me. So I sold that one as a frameset + Syncros parts to a caring UK rider. He built it up again to ride it.

So this second bike comes with a 20.5 inch frameset. My size. Mostly with the original m900 parts still on it. Too bad the original Syncros stem and seatpost were removed and the Syncros handlebars were cut down to a very short 19 inches / 480 mm. Luckily I still had some vgc Syncros parts lying around so I put them on. I must say I still love the look of this bike. I haven't seen many early nineties 20+ inch bikes that have a sloping toptube like this one. The ride is very controllable yet agile.

The original specs of the bike: Japanese manufactured Miyata carbonfiber main and rear tringle, aluminium lugs and forks (10-year warranty on frame and forks), Syncros stem, handlebars and seatpost, XTR m900 group and Mavic 231 CD rims. It's built with great attention to detail.

Next to the Kleins this Miyata is a member of the daily used bikes clan. So it's on slicks.
To make it completely original, next to the tires, I'm looking for a vgc Syncros 28.6 seatpost but I'm in no hurry.

My girlfriend rides a 1993 Koga Miyata TiRunner. That's the same bike but tubing is bonded titanium instead of bonded carbonfiber.

Very nice, Remko. I have two of this model: size 18.5 and 20.5". Especially the 18.5 frame has an extremely slooping toptube. The post 1991 SkyRunners lost a substantial amount of weight compared to the 90 and 91MY.

Some time ago I encountered a 28.6 Syncros post in an A'dam shop. Drop me line if you are interested.
