Spyder on a Race Face Turbine IB removable?

has anyone taken off the spyder off an early Race Face Turbine (IB) IBeam?

i know the arm and spyder are two separate pieces. it looks like the piece on the inside centre of the spyder that holds it in place has set of 5 holes for perhaps pins for a spanner to unlock it.

the set i have looks to have some wear around a few of the holes as if someone either used a spanner to lock/unlock it.
 
Yes, you can take the spyder off :wink:
I also have removed the spyder to make the elox new :



You must remove the one hexkey srew, then yon can srew the spyder of :wink:
 
my IBs don't look like that. they are a set of compacts. they don't have that one bolt that yours has which i'm guessing holds your spyder in place. that inner centre piece i'm referring to looks to be a collar that possibly screws off.
 
The collar does screw-off but in my experience it was on very, very tightly. I seem to remember it may have even have some kind of glue/lock on it too...

But it does work - the spider on this set was dark blue once :wink:

Yup, that's exactly the same as my set above.
As I said, my collar was on real tight, but it did come off. Them you'll need to give the spider itself a few decent traps to remove it.
