Moroccan Roll?

Can anyone remember a feature in MBUK, I reckon it was 1989/1990 era.

The feature was couple of carbon bikes. I think one was a Kestrel, and the other was something called the Moroccan Roll (or maybe that was the name of the feature, can't remember), it had a pink/purple paintjob, pastel sort of colours, with a kind of mottled or splatter effect.

There may have been a third bike.

I may also have dreamt the whole thing

Cheers,

Neilios.

Re:

I'm pretty sure that I remember that bike but from a different magazine.
If I remember correctly the bike was a design degree project buy a journalist (possibly Carlton Ried) and was a carbon wrapped foam core. It also featured a cast alloy flexstem type stem.
The mag was Bicycle Magazine.

I reckon you're right!!

I was at Fibre-Lyte a couple of weeks ago, and we were chatting about old bikes. The guy mentioned a degree project that was made as you describe. It triggered a vague memory, eventually I ended up at the name Moroccan Roll. I've found nothing on the net about it, which made me wonder if it was a third bike in the review...

Re:

Going off on another tact... this is the first thing that sprang into my mind

Back in the early 80’s this was one of my favourite after school programs

Re:

Did it also have disc brakes? I have a picture in my mind of a cable operated disc with "compact disc" printed on it.

Re:

Oh and a seat post qr that was a squared off loop that started on one side of the seat binder (rear mounted) looped around the front of the seat post and back to the binder on the other side.
This was to allow (in conjunction with a hite rite) the rider to reach down between their legs and pull up on the loop to drop or raise the saddle.

Sounds like your memory is better than mine retrobate! I think we're gonna need to track down a copy of the article to see...

Holy Smokes boy'o'boy - that's the bike for sure. Thanks for digging this out!

This isn't the article I remember, sure it was more of a review style thing. Some interesting chat in this article :)
