Saddle corner holes

Just fixed a couple of holes/tears in the corners my favourite saddle. I blobbed in some black Stormsure to fill the holes and once set added a thin layer on top to bond to to the good leather. It is now set. Not exactly invisible mending but its not too awful and I think it should last. I've used this stuff for years for fixing wellies and waders and it sticks like hell and is tough as old boots.

It set me to wondering.....is there a better way to do fix ripped/holey saddle corners as I've another one that is starting to go?

Re:

I have one saddle with some damage too. You give me hope because that looks better then mine. Might try that out.

What product did you exactly use?

This stuff https://www.stormsure.com/index.php/sto ... black.html
You can get small tubes for around £5.00.

Those holes are bigger than the ones on my saddle were, but probably worth a go.
I 'd be inclined to trim the most ragged bits of leather round the hole then build up the Stormsure layer by layer, letting it dry between layers. It takes hours to dry and sort of 'self-levels' so you need to make sure that the repair area is upward or it will run.

Alternatively you might be able to get some thin leather off-cuts on ebay and use the Stormsure to bond new leather over the rips. I considered that but never tried it. Might be do-able?

I'm still intrigued as to whether anyone has come up with a better repair option though. There's plenty of holey saddles (batman). There may be better ideas out there.........

Anyone?
