My thoughts too! and old racers will go up in value whereas modern stuff will decrease in value.
 
Are there different types of carbon fiber, in the same way that there is different steel tubing for bikes.....or is it just cheaper materials??

Someone has to buy new bikes in order to make second hand bikes.

Yes there are different grades and also different types of resin to go with that. See Cyclist Feb 2014.
 
So you'd imagine that this has been put together using a lesser grade of carbon fiber and a cheap resin.
