FWIW, I'm 98% convinced his first steel Yeti race bikes were 1 1/4" and used some sort of headtube reducer to allow the use of Tioga stems.

Wow.. That's exactly what I did.. :shock: Seatpost Shim though in my case.. 25.4mm > 28.6mm..

I thought he'd had custom Stems made..!

My first thought as well, but the word I'm hearing is the Tioga sponsorship was big dollars and there was no way they'd accept him running a copy.
