When's a Ritchey not a Ritchey?...When it's a 'FUGAZI'

Ok, so this is either going to be seen as the tongue in cheek, fun, parts bin build that it's intended as...Or it's going to get me lynched by a baying crowd with flaming torches and pitch forks...We'll see! 😬

Towards the end of last year, whilst scrolling the for sale section, I came across @1552 's ad for a lovely little Ritchey liveried steel frame at a price that couldn't be ignored...So I bought it!

Once it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was with fresh paint and had a really cool 'high end' look about it.

In the advert, Niall mentioned that it was Ritchey tubed, with Ritchey dropouts, but believed that it was a Ballistic, a brand that wasn't that well known but shared a lineage with the Merlin brand. I spoke to Gil about Ballistic decals, but we drew up a blank, so my little cogs started whirring and with the tubing and dropouts bearing the Ritchey branding I decided to build it as an homage to Tom's beautiful creations, but also have a bit of tongue in cheek fun with it!

Fugazi

New Word Suggestion
[urban slang] fake; phony; broken beyond repair

For those of you that have seen Donnie Brasco, or the Sopranos, you'll know what a 'Fugazi' is and hopefully, you'll get the joke?... I contacted Gil again and had him design me some decals in the same font and design as the Ritchey Ultra and so the plan was hatched...

So this is where we're up to...

Please remember that this is a parts bin build, it's got some fairly nice bits, but won't be up there with some of the bikes on here. That said, I think it should make a nice, quick and springly little thing that will be perfect for summer rides out with the wife and kids...

...Oh...

...That controversial decal...😬

Will update this once it's finished in a few days...👍

Not forgetting that it is literally a parts bin special…I actually really like it and can’t wait to see what it rides like!!!

Parts bin or otherwise I like the overall look. I bet it'll be a nice ride

Very nice.

Yep, they are Ballistic frames, came in either Tange Ritchey Logic Prestige tubes or Tange Prestige tubes. Ride great for how much they originally old for 👍
