Went for Pace ( Well, I am a Yorkshireman....)

Might have gone for X-lite if it had been up there.

There used to be a shop in Meadowhell, called Freespirit, that had a glass cabinet, with rotating shelves full of the blingiest bling known to man at the time. The time I must have spent watching all that purple x-lite stuff....it even rotated in my dreams!

I still think the x-lite L168 stem is one of the best ever stems too. Proper industrial looking ( And Mint had one too for a while, so it must be good?)

Also saw my first ever rc200 frame in there.....bought my frame from there two years later.

And then there is of course Hope, Middleburn, Ringle.....

Cook Bros is a good second, although Grafton, hmmm, also very "bling".

(I agree on the Shimano mechs compared to PAUL and Proshift, but we're talking "bling"here, not functional ;) )

Have to agree on the KING of Bling's functionality.

However, in umpteen years of biking I never owned a KING part until I bought a used bike that had a headset fitted 3 years ago. They do fullfill the ridiculously expensive criterion nicely too.

And I know if it stays smooth for 20 years it is "not expensive". But the Ritchey logic headset I bought new for 25 Gulden (8 GBP with the exchange rates BITD) is also still spinning as smooth as they day I fitted it.

Enjoy!!
