What's Britain doing wrong?

Finland scored 7.804.
UK scored 6.796 in 20th place out of 137 countries.

Of those top 20 happy counties we have the 2nd lowest suicide rate.

Data for suicide rates for 183 countries show us at 118th lowest. Only a single happier country has a lower rate - Israel (Slight mismatch in year 2019 World Health Org. figures).

Here's the top 20 happiest countries in order of WHO suicide rate ranking & rate per 100K of population for 2019.

19th out of 137.

What is Britain doing wrong? Objectively…. Not a lot by the results of the poll.

The trouble with 'Great' Britain today is that you've lost your identity.
You cannot even fly a Union Jack without getting a council fine.
Then you're branded "racist".

I would be interested to see a breakdown by age. It's still the case that the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK is suicide. That's an awful statistic. I wonder, then, whether there's a strong generational gap in happiness between older generations and younger generations in the UK.

If you look at top 20, there are exceptions but generally most of these countries have outdoor lifestyles in common. I feel happiness is linked to the simpler things in life and for many people leading urban and suburban lifestyles a lot of them are chasing their tails, being led by the internet on what they should own, how their house should look, how they should dress, how everybody else is richer and leading a better lifestyle than them. The great outdoors is the ultimate leveller, gives you headspace to contemplate life and make you realise how unimportant we really are compared to nature.
