The rear will be a U brake I think so you'll need to get one (easily enough at Bikestation I guess)

I wouldn't repaint it - just build up as a rigid rider, maybe a bit of touch up here n there
You'll enjoy it in comparison to all those bouncy things you have.

The Klein is a mid-spec 1996 model that came with yellow Rock Shox to match the decals. These were still built in-house by Klein.

EDIT: Looking at the picture again this is must be a very early Trek-built model as it has the simplified 97-on frame design (fatter/simpler stays, non-smoothed welds). But it was built up in 96 spec/colours (below)... Something of an oddity.

You need to do more editing than that. Even implying that aluminum can had its origins in Chehalis is a crime. That Klein is a Waterloo turd if ever there was one. Smelt it. Buy the Kona.
