Well, to confuse matters, the pictured rider has the team-only XC Pro in neon yellow fitted, but good luck finding that! (The X-1 brake bit was just the little bolt cover, not the whole brake).

yeah, this has also raised my attention, just a lot of catalogs had some MTB life style or race pictures from recent years.

You're right on the model, it seem to be XC Pro from 1990 in neon.
There is a japanese Suntour 1990 catalog with a nice picutre showing John Tomac, the nice Titan (Merlin) Mongoose and this neon group

Yup, it was given to handful of pros, I’ve been passively searching for the kit for about 15 years, and don’t have any.

Do they only work on x1 or do they work on all Suntour models? As in xc comp, xc pro, xc ltd .etc

By the looks of them they should fit all the above. Haven't been brave enough to open up the box yet.
