Lovely bike and great pictures. I had a brand new Viking Ian Steel about 1955 when I was 12 and was a member of Stretford Wheelers. Terrific bike for the money - about 26 pounds I think. Just found a road-test at http://classicvikingcycles.com/articles ... le-review/

I dropped bikes till my son took up mountain bike XC and DH racing in British Columbia (where we now live) at the age of 12. I still have his last factory sponsored bike - a 2001 Trek STP 300, almost in "as new" shape. Still climbs like a cat, but I don't!

Thanks. I'd forgotten about this thread, it's nearly 3 years since the last reply!

To be honest I haven't ridden this for a couple of years as the rear wheel is slightly out of true and I haven't got round to fixing it. It has the original spokes and I'm torn between replacing them or not. Riding around on 60+ year old spokes has me a little worried but I hate to remove even more originality from the bike.
