Unused 1991 GT Zaskar

Yes a groupset could be ordered and of course you could order bars and items for it from the tech shop catalogue

1992 was the first year of them coming built.

1991 catalogue clearly states ‘can be ordered as complete bikes’.

Yes but they were built at the dealers and invoiced as individual parts rather than being a sent from GT to the dealer as a full bike in a box.

Since not a full bike the spec is completely changeable. You used to be able to spec the groupset and then choose which other parts you added so no actual catalogue build spec since they don’t actually appear in the catalogue.

Happy to be corrected though.

Thread being somewhat derailed but if I walk into a bike shop, look at a GT catalogue, point at the page that says ‘can be supplied as a complete bike with Deore XT’,subsequently order said complete bike from aforementioned catalogue, then IMHO, it’s a catalogue build.

We can agree to disagree.

What tyres does a 91 Zaskar come with as a catalogue build?

Probably Ritchey Megabites the same as all the other top MTBs in their catalogue that year.

But since it doesn’t appear in the catalogue would you bet you house on it?

That’s the point. They aren’t in the catalogue as a complete bike so there’s no catalogue build. You choose which tyres , saddle etc you wanted and paid the dealer.

Your receipt wouldn’t be a full bike , but a frame set , groupset and then the added needed parts.
