The Dyna-tech Diablo tubes had only a clear lacquer applied,no paint other than on the lugs and cromo bits

Total myth - put about by manufacturers who couldn't justify their massively expensive titanium frames.

They're not seamed - you'd be able to feel it and see it.

I'm pretty sure i read it in a reveiw of the frames bitd. Not that that's infallible. Also a welded tube can be drawn over a former so the seam is no longer apparent.
